So this is why I should swatch...
I had a feeling this was too big for blocking to fix but, I gave it a try anyways. Apparently I just had to learn the hard way. I will say that I am relieved it doesn't fit. I know I have some sizes to drop but when I was working on the back it was killing me to see the sheer blanket-ness of the piece. Phew!
Before I tried it on I was sort of wondering if deeper seams would help. Clearly that is not the case! Moving right along...
I have much higher hopes for this little number below.
In fact, if it is comfy, I might just share the pattern. A total 1st for this knitter.
I think I am going to stick to accessories and a few projects on the sidebar before beginning Wicked - recycling Sizzle's yarn and carefully knitting a SWATCH. Wicked is a top down, in the round pattern that will be easier for me to track how the sizing progresses.
Ah well. You win some, you lose some.

See, that's what discourages me from starting another sweater but here I am about to start the shrug "One Skein wonder" Attempt it, I say.

oh, that is too funny but I am so sorry that happened...I hate when stuff like that happens. UGH!
Oy! But you're right - we just have to learn the hard way at times! I've been knitting quite an amount of sweaters and tops and stuff in my lifetime - and still, I'm never ever content with the actual fit, never! I have a couple ones that are way too big, some are too tight, some look like potato sacks - I think if a knitter really manages to get more than one sweater in the right shape, finding out the perfect fit, so to say, then this knitter has reached karma or nirvana or heaven or whatever ;) Really, it's that impossible!
But don't let it discourage you - we can only learn with such experiences!

Not the best, can you save it Doctor? If not, I'm sure Kira would just love it as a doggy bed.
Oh, I'm SO sorry! Better luck with Wicked. I really do hate to swatch, but I'm so completely obsessed with the idea that if I'm going to spend hours and hours knitting, it has to fit pretty darn well. Of course, I have to fight my innate naive optimism that says it will "be just fine!,"thereby encouraging me that a swatch isn't really necessary. . . : )
