Hodge Podge

Prepare yourself for a disjointed post tonight. So much is going on. Like this:

I am really excited to take part this time around. I am going to have to think of some ways to extend myself. I had started thinking of a few projects but they weren't very expansive so...3.5 weeks to contemplate...

Yesterday I went shopping and passed my first Stashalong test. Michael's is suddenly selling things like 100% wool and soy yarn. They also had some clearance yarn I could have found a use for but...I held out! And bought beads instead. Ha!

I had this vision of my Bejewelled Scarf aglitter with beads. The reality is not turning out as I would like so...back to the drawing board. Which is extra disappointing because it was some work figuring out how to get those lovely beads onto my thick and thin homespun. Ah well.

I came home to the nicest surprise yesterday - (talk about a knit geek) I had an e-mail reply from a comment I left the Yarn Harlot! Honest to goodness - I don't think I would fawn over her in person - but here I am blogging about this, all agog. My point was, I went back to her blog and what do I read? Who else was shopping for beads and then struggling to get them strung on her yarn? It is a small community, this.

Here is a pic of my baby racing to me just 'cause!

I do not recall ever reading this before and I found it quite moving, so I thought I would share it with you.

To me, fair friend, you never can be old,
For as you were when first your eye I eyed,
Such seems your beauty still. Three winters cold
Have from the forests shook three summers' pride,
Three beauteous springs to yellow autumn turn'd
In process of the seasons have I seen,
Three April perfumes in three hot Junes burn'd,
Since first I saw you fresh, which yet are green.
Sonnet 104 - William Shakespeare
Borrowed from A Mingled Yarn

And to end on a light note:

Overheard on the News: "We weren't expecting this level of comprehension." Park Official regarding the downed trees in Stanley Park. (Oh it feels mean to mock this poor man)

I had an inkling to join Project Spectrum as well, but, I'm just too inpulsive to commit to a colour scheme.
Have fun with it yourself.

PS: Your avatar photo has long been an object of desire in our household. Wherever did you get it?

I love the Project Spectrum project! I'm not sure if I can commit to another thing, though... I'll have to give it some thought.

Last Canada The Harlot responded to my comment - I still have it saved. I'll be geeky right along with you! :0)

I cannot comprehend that level of comprehension.

I've joined Project Spectrum this time around too. It should be fun and interesting since any craft or hobby goes. I plan on taking a lot of pictures as well as knitting.

I got a response from the Yarn Harlot to a comment I left about Joe's Gansey. I am not the type to get all star-struck, but I was secretly a little thrilled for a while.

I signed up from PS too - hopefully I can stick with it ;o)

Beads!! I love beads bead shops,...making jewlery especially using sterling silver with it. Another one of my hobbies:)
YAY, you also joined Project Spectrum. Lolly makes it so easy with no pressure, that's why I love her so, one of the reason anyways.
That's so nice of Yarn Harlot to email you back. I am a geek like that with Famous Artist and book aurthers too:) I get so tickled to get emails and phones calls even from them.

So now you are a celebrity, too - does that mean we need to treat you with more respect??

And isn't mattress stitch the most wonderful thing? You did a fab job - no seam line there at all...

Funny - I started with beads recently, too, and am finding it could be a whole new compulsion... must tread carefully...

My gosh, what a wonderful verse! I've been struggling with Shakespeare basically all of my life, never really been taken by his work - but this is something particularly beautiful, what a lot of emotions and feelings there are in these words! Thank you so much for sharing!
PS: I adore that pic of your lil' furry one!!!
