First Snowfall!
I love snow. I really, really love the 1st snowfall.
It was however, Grey's Anatomy night which meant I did NOT go for a walk in the snow at night. This is usually a tradition for me, but it did also rain last night. So I am thinking it wasn't really the 1st snow I go walking in.
It made work fun too. Our power went out. Mercifully for only about 15 minutes. Picture 17 excited children barely contained while playing inside (because why would parents send children to school with coats or boots at the end of November? they wouldn't) and then...the power goes out. It was 5:10 - less than an hr from GA (PANIC!) and extremely dark out already.
So we had a superfast cleanup and then gathered everyone's belongings while our emergency lights were lasting. Once that was accomplished we gathered together and one of the older children began to read aloud to the group. Most of the children's parents began arriving just before power was restored.
Honestly, I think it was fun and kind of cozy. The 1st 5 minutes were a little chaotic but after that there was something quite nice about being gathered by the light of the halogen (gone the day of candle - until the emergency lights give out that is) and reading Hans Christian Andersen.
Power failures were my favourite when I was a child. I actually prefer candlelight - doesn't everyone and everything look just that much nicer? Not to mention cleaner! It is just not a good thing when you depend on your electricity for heat and phone - like we do at work.
We are supposed to get more snow and temperatures up to -14 in the next few days and I am looking forward to that walk!

Wow that's cool. My husband is jealous - he loves snow and it's been so mild here we don't think winter will ever get here.
I finally know what "Fountain" is now - I wanna see it too!! Thanks for telling that it's a good one to see!
I AM SO JEALOUS of your snow. And power outtage?! Oh, it's one of the best things in the world. But not really when you're still at work and have to get home safely. Glad all went well and things weren't too crazy with the little ones! At home with a crackling fire, some knitting, and good candles, bowl of popcorn made over the coals. Ohhhhh yeahhhh. THAT is when power outtages are the best. heh
The snow is pretty - but nothing new to me, I'm afraid! We've got about 20cm in the last few days, and now it's bitterly cold. Sigh. I'm hoping it will warm up a bit so I can get out in it! :0)
Oh I want to see Fountain, too! However, we never have time to go to the movies so I'll have to wait 'til it's out on DVD...
And, I'm so very jealous that you had snow already - it's been in the 50's here all week. NOT normal. *pout*
